DTC B2960: PASSLOCK(tm) SENSOR DATA INCORRECT BUT VALID: Testing

  1. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located below steering column. See Figure . Momentarily turn ignition switch to CRANK position, not letting engine start, release ignition switch to RUN position. Select scan tool Passlock(tm) module display DTCs function. If scan tool displays DTC B2960 as a current DTC, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DTC B2960 as a current DTC, check for intermittent or poor connections. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  3. If scan tool does not display DTCs B2947, B2948, B2957 or B2958, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTCs B2947, B2948, B2957 or B2958, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  .
  4. If Passlock(tm) sensor has been replaced on this vehicle, go to next step. If Passlock(tm) sensor has not been replaced on this vehicle, go to step  6 .
  5. If Passlock(tm) sensor learned procedure has been performed, go to next step. If Passlock(tm) sensor learn procedure has not been performed, go to step  9 .
  6. Using scan tool, monitor Passlock(tm) data voltage for one minute. If scan tool indicates that Passlock(tm) data voltage varies plus or minus 0.02 volt, go to next step. If scan tool indicates that Passlock(tm) data voltage does not vary plus or minus 0.02 volt, go to step  9 .
  7. Check Passlock(tm) sensor connector for intermittent or poor terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, go to next step. If terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  10 .
  8. Replace Passlock(tm) sensor. After repair, go to next step.
  9. Perform PROGRAMMING THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM COMPONENTS  . After programming, go to next step.
  10. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Momentarily turn ignition switch to CRANK position, not letting engine start, then release to RUN position. Select Passlock(tm) module DISPLAY DTC function. If DTC B2960 does not reset, system is okay at this time. If DTC B2960 resets, go to step  3 .
