Coolant Bypass Valve: Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner. See Fig 1. Remove the upper fan shroud. See Fig 2. Drain the engine coolant.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the coolant bypass valve. Remove the vacuum hose from the coolant bypass valve. Remove the bolt that retains the coolant bypass valve to the heater assembly. See Figure or Figure .
  3. Using the Hose Clamp Pliers, reposition the heater inlet hose clamp from the coolant bypass valve. Remove the heater inlet hose from the coolant bypass valve. Using the Hose Clamp Pliers, reposition the outlet heater hose clamp from the coolant bypass valve.
  4. Remove the outlet heater hose from the coolant bypass valve. Remove the coolant bypass valve.
