WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Chevrolet Tracker. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Inspect the accelerator cable for proper adjustment. See ACCELERATOR CABLE ADJUSTMENT . Inspect the TV cable locknut (3) and the adjusting nut. Place the ignition switch in the LOCK position. Ensure the throttle valve is closed. Measure the distance (2) between the tip end and the end of the boot. See Fig 1. The distance must be 0.03-0.06" (0.8-1.5 mm).
  2. If distance is not 0.03-0.06" (0.8-1.5 mm), loosen the TV cable locknut (3), then adjust the cable until the clearance is obtained. Tighten the TV cable locknut. Measure the distance (2) between the tip end of the TV cable and the end of the boot. Ensure that the distance did not change during the tightening of the locknut.
