Case Extension Housing: Removal

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Raise the vehicle and support the vehicle.
Remove the right drive axle from the vehicle. See appropriate AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
Remove the transaxle brace. See TRANSAXLE BRACE .
Remove the vehicle speed sensor. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR .
Remove the case extension bolts.
Remove the case extension housing with axle seal and the O-ring. See Fig 1 . Inspect the case extension.
