Circuit/System Verification
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition ON, perform the pump motor test with a scan tool and listen/feel the pump motor turn ON and OFF.
- If the pump motor does not turn ON and OFF, refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- Start the engine and allow it to idle.
- Place the transmission in the PARK position.
- Apply and release the brake pedal.
- Ignition OFF, without pausing at ACCESSORY, and without applying the brake pedal.
- Remove the ignition key and wait 3 minutes until the brake modulator and HPA pressure relief is complete.
- While observing the scan tool EBCM Accum. Pressure Sensor parameter, turn the ignition ON. Measure and record the time it takes for the pressure to reach 18,000 kPa (2,600 psi).
- If less than 30 seconds, the pump motor is good, refer to Brake Hydraulic and Assist System Diagnosis (Two-mode Hybrid) .
- If greater than 30 seconds, replace brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly.
NOTE:
To ensure the complete brake modulator and high pressure accumulator (HPA) pressure relief procedure is allowed to occur; the brake controller must see one brake pedal apply with the engine running followed by a proper shutdown without applying the brake pedal.
NOTE:
The ignition must transition to the OFF position without pausing at ACCESSORY and without applying the brake pedal. This ensures that the brake modulator and HPA pressure relief occurs.
