Removal Procedure

  1. Place the park brake lever in the fully released position.
  2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  3. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .

  5. Using ONLY hand tools, loosen the adjusting nut (1) completely to the end of the front cable threaded rod.

  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  8. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  9. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (1) or the right rear park brake cable (2) from the front park brake cable equalizer.

  11. Remove the park brake cable bracket bolt (1).

  13. Remove the park brake cable bracket bolt (1) and nut (2).

  15. Disconnect the park brake cable eyelet (1) from the park brake actuator.
  16. Compress the park brake cable conduit spring.
  17. Using the J 37043  , remove the park brake cable (2) from the mounting bracket. See Special Tools .
  18. Remove the park brake cable.
