Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the ignition lock cylinder solenoid.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ground circuit terminal B (w/o HP7) or terminal A (w/HP7) and B+.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal A (w/o HP7) or terminal B (w/HP7) and ground.
- Ignition ON, place the transmission shift selector in PARK then out of PARK. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between PARK then out of PARK.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the park switch.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit, and the park switch accessory voltage circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the park switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition lock cylinder solenoid.
