Removal Procedure

  1. Review the high voltage safety information prior to performing the High Voltage Disabling procedure. Refer to High Voltage Safety .
  2. Perform the high voltage disabling procedure. Refer to High Voltage Disabling .
  3. Disconnect the service disconnect. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect .
  4. Remove the high voltage terminal cover. Refer to Battery Terminal Cover Replacement .
  5. Remove the battery cable fastener (1) the cover ground fastener (2) and the battery terminal fasteners (3).

  7. Using the EL-48569:  covers, cover the 300 Volt terminals (1).
  8. Disconnect the 16-way Low Voltage connector and detach the harness retainers.

  10. Remove the push-pin from the outlet duct and reposition the duct enough to remove the right front battery nut.
  11. Remove the drive motor generator battery fasteners (1).

  13. Use the EL-48264:  lift tool, to remove the battery.
  14. Install the tool at lifting points (1) and (2).

  16. Carefully remove the drive motor generator battery (1).
