Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:

Identify how to disable high voltage.
Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.

Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.

Ignition OFF, inspect the hybrid drive motor battery air inlet and outlet for debris, or for a restriction.
- If debris or a restriction is found, repair as necessary.
Check for loose and vibrating duct work.
- If loose or vibrating duct work is found, repair as necessary.
Ignition ON, command the hybrid drive motor battery fan ON and OFF with a scan tool. The fan should not make objectionable noise.
- If the fan makes excessive noise, replace the drive motor battery assembly.
Ignition ON, command the hybrid drive motor battery coolant pump ON and OFF with a scan tool. The pump should not make objectionable noise.
- If the pump makes excessive noise, inspect the coolant hoses for being kinked or misrouted, coolant level and the pump for being loose or improperly installed.
- If all inspections are normal replace the drive motor battery assembly.
Command the HV contactors ON and OFF with a scan tool one at a time. The HV contactors should not make objectionable noise, compare to like vehicle.
- If the HV contactors make objectionable noise, replace the drive motor battery disconnect control module
If all inspections are normal replace the drive motor battery assembly.
