Circuit/System Description
The drive motor generator battery control module will diagnose its own systems and determine when a fault condition is present. Diagnostics and system status is communicated from the drive motor generator battery control module to the drive motor generator control module through the communication circuit. The drive motor generator control module is the host controller for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information.
The drive motor generator battery control module receives a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal from the drive motor generator control module referred to as the contactor system request circuit command. The drive motor generator battery control module uses several methods, the primary is a serial data message and the secondary is a PWM signal to open and close the HV contactors. A 5 V circuit is provided from the drive motor generator battery control module to the drive motor generator control module. The drive motor generator control module uses a PWM signal on the 5 V circuit to control the contactor system request command signal. If this PWM signal becomes out of range or invalid, the system will use a redundant message to command the HV contactors Open and Closed.
