Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the liftgate release switch.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal A and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal B and the ground terminal A with the switch in the open position.
- If not the specified value, replace the liftgate release switch.
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal B and the ground terminal A with the switch in the closed position.
- If greater than the specified range, replace the liftgate release switch.
- Test for greater than 10 volts between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or and open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the liftgate release switch and disconnect the harness connector at the liftgate latch assembly.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Connect the harness connector at the liftgate latch and disconnect the X1 harness connector at the I/P fuse block.
- Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal 23 and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage.
- Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between the control circuit terminal 23 and B+. Verify that the liftgate latch activates.
- If the liftgate latch does not activate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the liftgate latch assembly.
- Ignition OFF, connect the X1 harness connector at the I/P fuse block and disconnect the X4 and X7 harness connectors at the BCM.
- Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between the control circuit terminal 13 and B+. Verify the liftgate latch does not activate
- If the liftgate latch activates, test the control circuit terminal 22 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal replace the I/P fuse block.
- If the jumper wire fuse opens, test the control circuit terminal 13 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal replace the I/P fuse block.
- Briefly connect another jumper wire between the control circuit terminal 22 and ground. Verify the liftgate latch activates.
- If the liftgate latch does not activate, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal replace the I/P fuse block.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
