Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the left drive axle assembly. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (Non Hybrid) or Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (Hybrid) .

  3. Remove the output axle seal using a medium screwdriver and a mallet.

  4. Remove the drive axle retaining ring from the output axle shaft. Discard the retaining ring.

  5. Use the J 41227  to remove the sleeve from the output axle shaft.
