Circuit Description

When ignition is turned on, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) flashes AIR BAG warning light 7 times. During this time, Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) performs diagnostic tests on SIR system. If SIR system checks okay, SDM commands IPC to turn off AIR BAG warning light.

When Body Control Module (BCM) receives a command from SDM, it sends a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) data message to IPC to turn off AIR BAG warning light. AIR BAG warning light is indirectly controlled by SDM via Class 2 serial data and SPI data.

If ignition positive voltage is outside normal operating range (9-16 volts), SDM will command IPC to turn AIR BAG warning light on with no DTC's stored in memory.
