Installation Procedure

  1. Install the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod.
  2. Install the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  3. Install the outer tie rod end retaining nut to the steering knuckle.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 55 N.m (40 lb ft).

  4. Install the outer tie rod end retaining bracket (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the retaining bolts to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).

  5. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Perform a four wheel alignment. Refer to MEASURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT (WITH REAR WHEEL STEERING) or MEASURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT (WITHOUT REAR WHEEL STEERING) .

  7. Tighten the tie rod jam nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).
