Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the wheel hub and bearing (3) to the vehicle.

  2. Install the wheel hub and bearing retaining bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 140 N.m (103 lb ft).

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the wheel drive shaft retaining nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 250 N.m (184 lb ft).

  4. Install the retainer (3) and cotter pin (2) to the wheel drive shaft nut.
  5. Install the dust cap (4).
  6. Install the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle. Refer to REAR WHEEL STEERING TIE ROD END REPLACEMENT - Outer .
  7. Install the brake rotor. Refer to REMOVAL (REAR -- ALL WITH 4-WHEEL STEERING) or REMOVAL (REAR -- WITHOUT DUAL WHEELS & 4-WHEEL STEERING) in Disc Brakes.
  8. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
