Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod.
  2. Install the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the outer tie rod end retaining nut to the steering knuckle.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 55 N.m (40 lb ft).

  4. Install the outer tie rod end retaining bracket (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the retaining bolts to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).

  5. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in Tires and Wheels.
  6. Perform a four wheel alignment. Refer to MEASURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT (WITH REAR WHEEL STEERING) or MEASURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT (WITHOUT REAR WHEEL STEERING) in Wheel Alignment.
