Shifter Disassemble

    Fig 1: Reverse Inhibit, Roll Pin, Outer/Inner Control Lever, End Cap & Outer Spring

    IMPORTANT: Observe the orientation of the roll pin (4) before removal.
  1. Remove the reverse inhibit roll pin (6). Discard the inhibit roll pin.
  2. Remove the roll pin (5). Discard the roll pin.
  3. Remove the outer control lever (3).
  4. Remove the inner control lever (4).
  5. Remove the end cap (2).
  6. Remove the outer spring (1).

  8. Remove the retainer (1).
  9. Remove the washer (2).
  10. Remove the select lever (4).
  11. Inspect the bushings (3). Do not remove.

  13. Remove the roll pin (2). Discard the roll pin.
  14. Remove the shift lever (1).
  15. Remove the shift cover (5).
  16. Inspect the shift cover bushing (3). Do not remove.
  17. Inspect the seals (4). Do not remove.
  18. Inspect the bearing (6). Do not remove.

  20. Remove the retainers (1). Discard the retainers.
  21. Remove the outer spring seat (2).
  22. Remove the inner spring (3).
  23. Remove the inner spring seat (4) from the shift rod (5).

  25. Clean all components in a suitable solution.
  26. Inspect all components for wear or damage.
  27. If any components have wear or damage, replace the shifter.
