Removal Procedure

CAUTION: This vehicle has energy-absorbing foam blocks for side impact protection. To help avoid personal injury in a collision, foam blocks that are damaged, or removed during repairs must be replaced. Failure to replace foam blocks that are removed can violate federal law.
  1. Open the front door.
  2. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door .
  3. Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door .
  4. Remove the inner front energy absorber pad (Coupe). Refer to Energy Absorber Pad Replacement - Inner Front (Coupe) .
  5. Remove the front door window regulator. Refer to Window Regulator Replacement - Front Door .
  6. Remove the screws from the front door outer energy absorber pad.
  7. Grasp the front door energy absorber with both hands and pull it away from the front door.

    If necessary, warm the outer door panel to soften the adhesive.

  8. Use a rag and alcohol to clean the adhesive off the door panel.
