Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the interior trim if necessary to gain access to the striker nut.
  2. Remove door striker using J 29843-9. Hold the nut in order to prevent the nut from falling into the body pillar.
  3. Remove the nut from the vehicle.
  4. Remove the spacer from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the insulator from the vehicle.
  6. Adjust the striker to properly engage the door lock once the door is adjusted within the frame.
  7. Ensure that the striker is used to adjust the door for flushness only, not to raise or lower the door.
