Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important: Install new plastic retainer clips whenever the lock rods are removed.

Install the gasket (5) and the lock cylinder to the door.
Install the lock cylinder retainer.
Install the lock rod to the lock cylinder.
Install the handle to the door (2).

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

Install the nuts to the door handle (4). Tighten: Tighten the nuts to the door handle to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
Install the door handle lock rod to the handle.
Install the access hole plug (1).

Install the water deflector. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR .
Install the trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - DOOR .
