Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE Battery.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT  .
  3. Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATOR in Generators & Regulators.
  4. Remove the generator bracket. Refer to GENERATOR BRACKET REPLACEMENT Battery.
  5. Remove the right spark plug wires. Refer to SPARK PLUGS in Removal & Installation.
  6. Remove the EVAP purge valve. Refer to EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE in Removal & Installation.
  7. Remove the ignition coil bracket with the coils. Refer to IGNITION COILS in Removal & Installation.
  8. Remove the ignition coil bracket studs.
  9. Remove the vacuum hose from the grommet in the right valve rocker arm cover.
  10. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  11. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover.

  12. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  13. Clean the valve rocker arm cover.
  14. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket mating surfaces.
