Removal (Cab & Chassis)

  1. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain as much fuel as possible through fuel filler opening using a hand-operated pump or equivalent.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Remove fuel tank shield. See Figure or Figure . Loosen fuel fill and vent pipe hose clamps at fuel tank. Remove fuel fill and vent pipes from fuel tank. Support fuel tank. Remove fuel tank strap bolts. Remove fuel tank straps.
  3. Lower fuel tank slightly. Disconnect fuel and EVAP pipes to fuel tank. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS . Cap fuel and EVAP pipes to prevent possible fuel system contamination.
  4. Disconnect fuel tank sending unit and fuel pressure sensor harness connectors. Remove fuel tank.
