Inspection (Steering Shaft)

Inspect steering shaft for sheared injection plastic. See Figure. If injection plastic is sheared, replace steering shaft. Check steering shaft runout by installing a dial indicator at lower end of steering shaft, and then rotating steering wheel. If runout exceeds.062" (1.59 mm), replace steering shaft.
