Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (CARGO DOORS)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (E54)  .
  2. Remove the water deflector away from the door. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement  .
  3. Remove the rod that retains the actuator to the lever.
  4. Remove the actuator wiring connector.
  5. Remove the rivets that retain the actuator to the door. Drill out the head of the rivet with a 5 mm (3/16 in) drill bit.
  6. Remove the actuator from the door.
