Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the liftgate garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  2. Remove the wiring harness and the conduit assembly for the power lock actuator and the wiper washer motor.

  4. Remove the hinge nuts (3) while an assistant holds the liftgate in place in order to remove the strut clips (4) and the struts from the lower stud (2).

  6. Remove the hinge nuts (5).
  7. With an assistant, remove the liftgate (1) from the vehicle.
