Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in GM Vehicles Cautions & Notices.
  1. With an assistant, install the liftgate (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the hinge stud through the holes in the gasket and the roof panel.
  3. Install the hinge nuts (5) with new washers in order to prevent water leaks. Tighten:  Tighten the hinge nuts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the liftgate strut clips (4).

  7. Install the wiring harness and the hose assembly for the power lock actuator and the wiper washer motor.
  8. Install the liftgate garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
