Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the clips to the remote lock.
  2. Install the lower latch and the rod to the door.
  3. Install the reinforcement.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in GM Vehicles Cautions & Notices.
  5. Install the lower latch screws. Tighten:  Tighten the lower latch screws to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

  7. Install the upper latch and the rod to the door.
  8. Install the cover, if equipped.
  9. Install the upper latch screws. Tighten:  Tighten the upper latch screws to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

  11. Install the control rods through the clips to the remote lock.
  12. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement  .
  13. Install the trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (CARGO DOORS)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (E54)  .
