Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (CARGO DOORS)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (E54)  .
  2. Separate the weatherstrip deflector at the perforation. Use a sharp-bladed tool if needed. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement  .
  3. Remove the control rod from the lock assembly.
  4. Remove the bolts and the reinforcement.

  6. Remove the following components from the door:
    • The latch
    • The rod
    • The retainer
  7. Remove the rod and the retainer from the latch.
