Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (CARGO DOORS)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (E54)  .
  2. Remove the water deflector from the door. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT -- SLIDING DOOR in Doors.
  3. On the right door, remove the wiring harness from the license plate lamp and the power lock actuator, if equipped.
  4. Remove the harness and the conduit from the right door.
  5. Remove the stereo speakers, if equipped. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR in Entertainment.
  6. Remove the check link. Refer to CHECK LINK REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (CARGO DOOR)  or CHECK LINK REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (E54)  .
  7. Drive the hinge pins (3) from the hinges (2) while an assistant holds the door in place.
  8. With an assistant, remove the door from the vehicle.
