Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI) System
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 33 other vehicles, including the 2002 Saturn Vue, 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Pontiac Aztek, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Fuel injectors on SFI system are pulsed sequentially in spark plug firing order. Main differences between sequential and simultaneous systems are injectors, wiring and the PCM.
Constant fuel pressure is maintained to the injectors. Air/fuel mixture is regulated by amount of time injector stays open (pulse width). Various sensors provide information to the PCM to control pulse width.
