Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Cadillac Escalade EXT. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

    IMPORTANT: Note the orientation of the power steering solenoid actuator discharge fitting.
  1. Lubricate and install the new O-ring seal with power steering fluid.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the power steering fitting and actuator (1) to the pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering solenoid actuator to 62 N.m (46 lb ft).

  4. IMPORTANT: If a new power steering solenoid actuator (1) is being installed, position the electrical connector before installing the retaining ring (2).
  5. Install the electrical connector to the power steering solenoid actuator.
  6. Install the retaining ring (2) to the actuator (1).

  8. Install the power steering pump (1) to the vehicle. Refer to POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACEMENT (4.8 L, 5.3 L AND 6.0 L ENGINES) or POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACEMENT (8.1 L) in Power Steering System.
