Fasten Safety Belt Indicator
When the ignition is turned ON, the body control module (BCM) reports the status of the driver seat belt switch by flashing the fasten safety belt indicator. The BCM will flash the fasten safety belt indicator several times in association with the following conditions:
- The driver seat belt is unbuckled.
- The driver seat belt is buckled.
- The driver unbuckles seat belt after ignition is turned ON.
- The driver seat belt is unbuckled and then driver shifts into gear.
When the ignition is turned ON and the driver seat belt is unbuckled, the BCM will turn ON the fasten safety belt indicator for 20 seconds. The BCM will then flash the fasten safety belt indicator 55 times, before it turns it OFF. If the driver buckles the seat belt during this time, the BCM will turn OFF the fasten safety belt indicator.
When the ignition is turned ON and the driver seat belt is buckled, the BCM will perform a BULB TEST and then turn OFF the fasten safety belt indicator.
When the ignition is turned ON and the driver unbuckles the seat belt after the BULB TEST, the BCM turns ON the fasten safety belt indicator for 20 seconds. The BCM will then flash the fasten safety belt indicator 55 times, before it turns it OFF.
When the ignition is turned ON and the vehicle is shifted out of the PARK position, while the driver seat belt is unbuckled, the BCM will turn ON the fasten safety belt indicator for 20 seconds. The BCM will then flash the fasten safety belt indicator 55 times, before it turns it OFF. If the driver buckles the seat belt during this time, the BCM will turn OFF the fasten safety belt indicator.
