Fuel Tank Draining

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, and 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion. Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury.

Remove the fuel filler cap. Install Fuel Flapper Door Holder (J-42960-2) into the fuel fill pipe in order to hold the fill door open. Insert Fuel Drain Hose (J-42960-1) into the fuel tank until the hose reaches the bottom of the fuel tank. Use an air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel fill pipe as possible.
