Diagnostic Procedures

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The 30 minute auto relearn may not work if the ECM is in fail enable mode. Use the Service Stall System to perform the passlock relearn; or disconnect the battery for 5 minutes with ignition off, then perform the auto relearn.
  1. If any "U" codes or BCM passlock or voltage codes are set, repair those codes first. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If no "U" codes or BCM passlock or voltage codes are set, clear ECM and BCM DTCs. Either the 10 minute or 30 minute relearn procedure can be performed. It is preferred that the 10 minute procedure be performed to minimize time and error. See PROGRAMMING THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM COMPONENTS  under PROGRAMMING.
NOTE: It is normal for DTC P1630 and/or P1631 to reset during the learn procedure.
