Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue and 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ISS provides transaxle input speed to the TCM. The ISS is a permanent magnet generator. The sensor is located near the turbine shaft of the transaxle and produces an AC voltage that increases in frequency as the turbine shaft increases in speed. The frequency produced is directly proportional to the input speed. The TCM then converts this frequency signal into input speed. For this DTC, TCM samples the input speed every 25 milliseconds, and if it finds an unrealistic change in the input speed, DTC will set.
