To locate an intermittent problem, use scan tool to command different idle speed RPMs (650-875). ENGINE SPEED should match the DESIRED IDLE SPEED within 100 RPM.
Inspect throttle stop screw for signs of tampering and linkage for binding.
Check air intake system for blockage. Check IAC passage or throttle bore for blockage, excessive deposits in IAC passage and IAC pintle. Check for excessive deposits in throttle bore and throttle blade. Ensure vacuum hoses are routed correctly and no vacuum leaks are present.
IAC valve coil resistance should be 30-60 ohms.
