Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Cowl Side in Interior Trim.
  2. Pull back the carpet for access.
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Loosen the parking brake cable and the equalizer.

  6. Disconnect the front cable from the rear cable at the connector clip.
  7. Remove the front cable from the connector clip.
  8. Use the J 37043  in order to remove the front cable clip from the underbody bracket.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  11. Disconnect the electrical connector at the parking brake switch.

  13. Remove the three lever nuts (3) from the body mounting studs.
  14. Remove the parking brake lever (2) with the parking brake cable.

  16. Remove the cable button end from the lever clevis.

  18. Use the J 37043  in order to remove the cable from the lever.
  19. Remove the switch, if being replaced.
