Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Loosen the park brake cable equalizer nut in order to remove the park brake left side cable from the park brake equalizer.
  5. For domestic vehicles, perform the following steps.
    1. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
    2. Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement in Drum Brakes.
  6. Remove the park brake cable from the park brake actuator.

  8. Use the J 37043  in order to remove the park brake cable from the backing plate.
