Installation Procedure

Lubricate the O-ring seal with synthetic gear oil GM P/N United States 12378514 Canada P/N 88901045 or equivalent.
Using the J 44915 , install the oil seal (2) to the drive pinion housing. See Special Tools and Equipment .
Install the O-ring seal (4) to the drive pinion housing.

Carefully install the drive pinion housing assembly (1) and shim (2) to the differential carrier (3).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the pinion housing-to-differential mounting bolts (1).
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (106 lb in).

Lubricate the sealing surfaces of the drive pinion oil seal (1) with synthetic gear oil GM P/N United States 12378514 Canada P/N 88901045 or equivalent.
Install the torque tube assembly. Refer to Torque Tube Assembly Replacement .
Fill the differential with synthetic gear oil. Refer to Lubricant Change .
