Removal Procedure

  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Remove the inner fender liner enough to gain access to the front frame bolts. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Exterior Trim.

  5. Lower the vehicle to allow a floor jack to engage with the frame.
  6. Use a floor jack in order to support the frame and the powertrain.
  7. Remove the right side frame-to-body bolts.
  8. Use the floor jack to lower the right side of the frame and powertrain to provide clearance to the back of the reservoir.
  9. Disconnect the engine control module (ECM) wire harness from the ECM wire harness clip on the reservoir.
  10. Remove the power steering pressure pipe/hose from the power steering reservoir bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement (LA1)  or Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement (LY7) .

  11. Remove the power steering reservoir mounting stud bolt.
  12. Turn the reservoir to provide visual access to the reservoir hoses.
  13. Disconnect the power steering pump inlet hose from the power steering reservoir.

  14. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering reservoir.

  15. Remove the power steering reservoir and bracket from the vehicle.
  16. Cap off the power steering reservoir and hoses to prevent contamination.
  17. Remove the ECM retaining clip from the reservoir.
  18. Remove the power steering reservoir bracket from the reservoir. Refer to Remote PS Fluid Reservoir Bracket Replacement (LY7) .
