Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.

  2. Disconnect the pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine in Body Front End.
  5. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Power Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  6. Place the drain pan under the power steering pump and the power steering gear.

  7. For front wheel drive vehicles, remove the pipe retainer.
  8. For all wheel drive vehicles, disconnect the wiring harness from the pipe rear clip stud.

  9. For all wheel drive vehicles, remove the pipe rear clip stud.
  10. Disconnect the pressure hose from the steering gear.
  11. Disconnect the pressure hose from the hose retainer.
  12. Position the pressure hose lower portion into the right wheel opening.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Remove the pressure hose from the vehicle.
