Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the upper intake manifold with the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower .

  3. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.

  5. Remove the wiring harness from the side of the camshaft cover by sliding the conduit down and outboard.
  6. Remove the wiring conduit retainers from the camshaft cover by rotating the wiring harness conduit retainers counterclockwise.

    IMPORTANT: It is not necessary to disconnect the engine front cover electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the wiring harness from the front of the camshaft cover.
  9. Reposition and secure the wiring harnesses away from the camshaft cover in order to provide clearance.

  11. Remove the ignition coils.
  12. Loosen the left engine strut bracket.

  14. Loosen the left engine strut bracket-to-cylinder head bolts.
  15. Remove the camshaft cover bolts and camshaft cover.
  16. Remove and discard the camshaft cover seal and grommets. DO NOT reuse.
