Transfer Case Rear Oil Seal: Installation

- Using the transfer case rear bushing remover and installer, install a NEW rear output shaft bushing. See Fig 1. Install the bushing or the finger section of the transfer case rear bushing remover and installer.
- Install the finger section to the main body of the transfer case rear bushing remover and installer. Position the bushing and tool to the case.
- Using a hammer and transfer case rear bushing remover and installer, install the bushing. Position the rear output shaft seal in the transfer case.
- Using the output shaft seal installer, install the transfer case rear output shaft. See Fig 2. Install the rear propeller shaft. See appropriate DRIVE SHAFTs & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVE AXLES.
- Check the transfer case fluid level. Fill transfer case with appropriate fluid to proper level. See LUBRICATION . Install the transfer case shield. Lower the vehicle.
