Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (LA1) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (LY7) in Engine Electrical.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Fig 1: Locating Knock Sensor (KS) Electrical Connector Bracket Bolt

  5. Remove the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector bracket bolt (2) located near the oil filter (3).
  6. Remove the KS bolt (1).

  8. Disconnect the KS electrical connector.
