Installation Procedures

CAUTION: When removing, handling or installing this component wear protective gloves. The sharp edges on the component may be very sharp and may cause injury.

  1. Install the flywheel.
  2. Install the flywheel washer.
    NOTE: Refer to COMPONENT FASTENER TIGHTENING NOTICE .
  3. Install NEW flywheel bolts.

  4. Install J 44643  in order to hold the flywheel.

  5. Using the following steps and the sequence shown, tighten the bolts:

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).

    Tighten the bolts to 50 degrees using the J 45059  .

    Tighten the bolt again to 50 degrees using the J 45059  .

  6. Install the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT (WITH 6.6L ENGINE) , or TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT (WITH 8.1L (L18) ENGINE) in Automatic Transmission - Allison.
