Checks Action
The clutch plates are broken Replace the clutch plates. Refer to the following:
The thrust block is broken Replace the thrust block with a block of identical thickness. Check closely for other damage. Refer to Locking Differential Disassemble (8.6, 9.5, 11.5 Inch Axle)  or Locking Differential Disassemble (10.5 Inch Axle)  and Locking Differential Assemble (8.6, 9.5, 11.5 Inch Axles)  or Locking Differential Assemble (10.5 Inch Axle) .
The case is damaged Replace the unit. Refer to Differential Replacement (8.6 Inch, 9.5 Inch Axles) or Differential Replacement (9.75 Inch Axle) or Differential Replacement (10.5 Inch, 11.5 Inch Axle) in Rear Drive Axle.
The differential gears are broken Replace the gears. Refer to the following:
