Limited Slip Differential Diagnosis

Limited Slip Differential Diagnosis

Step Action Values Yes No
1 Did you review the general description and perform the necessary inspections? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic Starting Point - Locking/Limited Slip Rear Axle 
2 Measure the rotational force of the axle using the following procedure:
  1. Block the front wheels.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Using the J 28733-B  Front/Rear Spindle Remover, measure the rotational force of the axle.
  5. Repeat the procedure for the other axle.

Does the force measure outside the specified range?		 22 N.m (30 lb ft)-271 N.m (200 lb ft) Go to Step 3  System OK
3 Repair the rear axle.
Did you complete the repair?		 - Go to Step 4  -
4 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 2  System OK
