Circuit Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 36 other vehicles, including the 2002 Pontiac Firebird, 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, and 2002 GMC Sonoma. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Pressure Control (PC) solenoid is used to regulate transmission line pressure. PCM compares TP sensor voltage, engine RPM and other inputs to determine appropriate line pressure for given load. PCM will regulate pressure by applying varying amperage to PC solenoid. Applied amperage can vary from 0.1-1.0 amp. PCM then monitors amperage. DTC P0748 is set if PCM detects a continuous open or short to ground in PC solenoid circuit.
