Installation (4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L Engine)

- If necessary, install starter heat shield. See Figure .
- If necessary, snap transmission cover to starter. See Figure .
- Install positive cable to starter. See Figure .
- Install positive cable nut. Tighten positive cable nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install starter lead to starter. See Figure .
- Install starter lead nut. Tighten starter lead nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Position starter into place. See Figure .
- Install starter bolts. Tighten starter bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect oil level sensor electrical connector.
- Position front axle mounting bracket bolt until bolt is fully seated. See Figure .
- Install front axle mounting bracket nut. Tighten front axle mounting bracket nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install transmission cover bolt. See Figure . Tighten transmission cover bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- If necessary, install oil pan skid plate and bolts. See Figure . Tighten oil pan skid plate bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- If necessary, install engine shield and bolts. See Figure . Tighten engine shield bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower vehicle.
- Connect negative battery cable. See Figure . Tighten battery terminal bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
NOTE:
Clean any existing corrosion from battery terminal bolt flange and battery cable end.
