Parking Brake Will Not Hold Or Release

  1. Were you sent here from the Parking Brake Symptom List? If so, go to next step. If not, go toGENERAL DIAGNOSIS (PARKING BRAKE) .
  2. Inspect parking brake system for proper operation. See PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS . Did you find and correct a condition? If so, go to step  5. If not, go to next step.
  3. Inspect disc brake system for proper operation. See DISC BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS . Did you find and correct a condition? If so, go to step  5. If not, go to next step.
  4. Inspect hydraulic brake system for proper operation. See HYDRAULIC BRAKES SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS . Did you find and correct a condition? If so, go to next step. If not, go to GENERAL DIAGNOSIS (HYDRAULIC BRAKES) .
  5. Road test vehicle in order to confirm proper operation. See BRAKE SYSTEM ROAD TEST . Is the condition still present? If so, go to  2. If condition is not present, system is okay.
